Dear colleagues,

Welcome to the new established Association of Students and Teachers of Russian Abroad - ASTRA - created in St. Petersburg in the year of its 300 anniversary by a team of the most qualified and experienced teachers working at Extra Class Language Centre.
The association was founded:

to share discoveries and ideas in teaching methods;
to provide teachers with new materials, including updated resources for Poekhali! 1 and 2, our coursebook used worldwide;
to contribute to development of more advanced teaching methodology;
to help teachers and students out of Russia to get news about culture and politics;
to keep them informed about books and events teachers and students might be interested in;
to help in finding contacts for research in various areas and organizing field studies;
to provide teachers with professional advice, lesson plans, role-play cards, materials for lectures, news discussions, lessons on Russian media, and everything to make teaching easier and more fun;
to organize language courses, teachers training courses, visits to St. Petersburg and travelling to different parts of Russia.

Members of the association get a monthly newsletter with fresh materials and subscribe to a mailing list where everyone is welcome to exchange ideas, to ask a question, to have a discussion with colleagues from different countries. The first issue of the newsletter is devoted to the 300 Anniversary of St. Petersburg and contains interesting materials on the celebration and the history of our city.

We are ready to offer different forms of cooperation to teachers and institutions in organizing courses, field studies and trips for your students.
